..KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Insurgents shot down a U.S. military helicopter during fighting in eastern Afghanistan, killing 30 Americans, most of them belonging to the same elite unit as the Navy SEALs who killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, U.S. officials said Saturday. It was the deadliest single loss for American forces in the decade-old war against the Taliban.
The downing, in which seven Afghan commandos were also killed, was a stinging blow to the lauded, tight-knit SEAL Team 6, months after its crowning achievement. It was also a heavy setback for the U.S.-led coalition as it begins to draw down thousands of combat troops fighting what has become an increasingly costly and unpopular war.
None of the 22 SEAL personnel killed in the crash were part of the team that killed bin Laden in a May raid in Pakistan, but they belonged to the same unit. Their deployment in the raid in which the helicopter crashed would suggest that the target was a high-ranking insurgent figure.
Special operations forces, including the SEALs and others, have been at the forefront in the stepped up strategy of taking out key insurgent leaders in targeted raids, and they will be relied on even more as regular troops pull out. READ ENTIRE ARTICLE....
As an 1974-77 Vet, I think it's insane the level of obvious manipulation taking place within our military. Politics, special interest groups, religious zealots, media, and the industrial complex have tied the hands of the finest military in the world. The powers to be have us brainwashed into believing that we should invest life, labor and finances again and again into failed policies.
They tell us that if we spend enough money re-building the infrastructure of those who hate us, if we spend enough money educating our democratic principles to those who hate us, if we use/sacrifice enough expendable manpower rather than using costly technology, if we protect their oil and borders rather than protecting our own U.S resources & borders. They pass policies that encourage the devaluation of the dollar while discouraging investor expansion and technological innovation.
Reminds me of the foolish whore in the bible (excerpts from Ezekiel 16)
20 Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter,
25 Thou hast built thy high place at every head of the way, and hast made thy beauty to be abhorred, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredoms.
33 They give gifts to all whores: but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and hirest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredom.

The normal progression for the buying and selling of sex is that the whore gets paid by the john after the act. Not so with this example in verse 33. After getting screwed, in this perverted relatiionship, the screwee pays the screwer. This analogy closely ressembles the America of today.
For these many seals to be killed at one time, you can't tell me that they our leaders are so stupid as to not know that this is a organized, preplanned inside job. The silence about the possiblity of a mole or conspiracy in this transport activity means that everone involved from the original giver of the order to all those who knew prior should be investigated.
